In a significant development, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Sunday that former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard is set to join the England coaching team for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup. This strategic move positions Pollard as an integral part of the coaching setup, serving as an assistant coach for the upcoming tournament scheduled for June. The event is co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States.
Kieron Pollard, a seasoned cricketer and former Somerset all-rounder hailing from Trinidad and Tobago, brings a wealth of experience to the England set-up. Having played 101 IT20s for the West Indies, Pollard played a pivotal role in West Indies’ triumphant 2012 Men’s T20 World Cup campaign. His previous association with the ECB from 2010 to 2013 as a Talent Identification Scientist positions him as a familiar face with a deep understanding of the organization’s objectives.
