Before the Ranji Trophy final, the BCCI removes Jaydev Unadkat from the India Test squad and plans for him to join Saurashtra
Jaydev Unadkat has been removed from India’s Test team by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in advance of the second Test against Australia, which will begin on February 17 in Delhi.
The senior pacer will now be able to represent Saurashtra versus Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2022–23 final at Eden Gardens, which starts on February 16.
Undakat was a member of the Indian team that defeated Australia and easily won the first Test in under three days. He was not, however, a member of the starting lineup.
The spin quartet of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel will be paced by Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, according to the Indian think tank.

The BCCI made the decision to remove Unadkat from the team because Rohit Sharma and company are unlikely to alter their winning lineup for the second Test. The BCCI stated in a public statement:
The decision to remove Jaydev Unadkat from India’s squad for the second Test of the Mastercard Australia tour to India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was made after discussions with the Indian team management.
Jaydev Unadkat remembers Rahul Dravid’s remark before his comeback Test: “This is perhaps one of the most well-deserved call-ups that you have got.”
Rahul Dravid’s advice to Jaydev Unadkat prior to his return Test against Bangladesh in December of last year was recently recounted by Jaydev Unadkat.

To eventually secure a spot in the Indian Test squad, Unadkat continued to compete fiercely for Saurashtra in the home circuit. He was given the chance to participate in the second Test in Mirpur, where he made an impression by taking three wickets.
He remembered his talk with Dravid to ESPNCricinfo, saying:
“Rahul bhai woke me up the morning of the day the Test began and said, “JD, you are in the XI, and this is probably one of the most well-deserved calls that you have received.”
Take pride in it and take pleasure in your time spent there in the midst. Just a 30-second discourse was given.”
The acquisition of Jaydev Undakat would undoubtedly help Saurashtra, who hopes to win their second Ranji Trophy championship in three years.
