What led Jaishankar to join the BJP? When did he first meet Prime Minister Modi?
S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, claimed on Tuesday that he joined the BJP because he believed it to be the ideal party for India’s ascent and development at the time.
I am a Rajya Sabha member, Jaishankar stated in an exclusive interview with ANI. My current term ends this year. Afterwards, we’ll have to wait and see.
I have to admit that I am in awe of anyone who has dedicated their life to politics, regardless of party. You have no idea how challenging it is. How difficult it is. It is only when you are in politics,
When asked if he would run in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, Jaishankar responded.
Those who specifically run for Lok Sabha are like the cutting edge. I am transitioning from another job into politics at a rather mature age. I have to spend a lot of time here as a minister.

I have to spend a lot of time here because I’m from Delhi. The demands of the Rajya Sabha are much lower than those of the Lok Sabha “He was tense.
When questioned about entering politics, Jaishankar responded, “I gave it a lot of consideration. At the end of May, I was ordained as a minister. I gave the celebration about a month’s worth of thought.
I joined because I believe they are the ideal party at the ideal time for India’s development. I had absolutely no desire to get involved in politics. It completely caught me off guard. I was even put forward by the Prime Minister for such a position, and I was appointed a minister before I had even joined a political party. I would therefore vary from many other individuals who may have previously worked in bureaucracy.”
Once the BJP retook power in 2019, the minister claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi approached him about joining the cabinet.

He responded, “Yes, the PM asked me to join the cabinet.
Jaishankar recalled his first encounter with PM Modi in 2011 and said, “When did I first meet Modi? He and I first spoke in November 2011 in Beijing. At the time, he was Chief Minister.
That is how we first met; he had come for a visit. I suppose I must have made a decent impression given the subsequent developments.”
The Minister added that Delhi’s atmosphere is more divisive than it ought to be.
“I do believe there are periods when politeness, relationships, and arguments are less polarised than they ought to be given the concerns of the populace for the welfare of the nation, particularly in Delhi. I don’t always base my friendships on my political views.”
S. Jaishankar has had a distinguished 38-year career as a diplomat. He served as India’s ambassador to Singapore, the US, China, and the Czech Republic. He was also India’s foreign minister. He was chosen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to serve as the Foreign Affairs Minister in his cabinet in 2019. (ANI)
