State minister JPS Rathore claimed that the administration has begun the process of getting rid of criminals, days after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pledged to put an end to mafia control in the state.

The announcement came one day after Arbaz, one of the suspects in the murder of Umesh Pal, died in a shootout with Prayagraj police. Earlier, gunmen shot and killed Umesh Pal, a key witness in the 2005 murder of BSP Lawmaker Raju Pal, outside his home.

“We will reduce criminals to dust, the chief minister declared in front of the assembly. The procedure has started. We have started prosecuting criminals harshly. No criminal will be spared, and no crime will be tolerated in Uttar Pradesh “Rathore stated.

Earlier, on February 25, CM Yogi Adityanath declared, “unko mitti mein mila denge,” accusing the Samajwadi Party of supporting the mafia (criminals) (we will turn them to dust).

Rathore alluded to the passing of known felon Vikas Dubey by saying, “You seen what transpired in Prayagraj. Criminals are all terrified. However, I also want to warn them not to raise a fuss if they are apprehended since the police car they may be riding in might flip.”

Vikas Dubey was fatally shot while being transported in a police convoy from Ujjain to Kanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, when the automobile Dubey was riding in flipped, he grabbed a policeman’s gun, tried to flee, and then started shooting before they shot him.

Rathore responded to the Samajwadi Party tweeting a picture of Sadaqat Khan, the main suspect in the murder of Umesh Pal, and Udaybhan Karwariya, the spouse of a BJP leader, by saying that action would be taken against those responsible. “We will not spare anyone, be they a member of any party.”

Following Umesh Pal’s murder, a political brawl broke out in Uttar Pradesh between the ruling BJP and the Samajwadi Party, with each party blaming the other for Pal’s death.
