Tihar jail officials have provided insights into Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal health in a report submitted to the Delhi L-G, shedding light on his medical condition and dietary habits.

According to the report, Kejriwal had ceased insulin intake months before his arrest and was instead taking a basic anti-diabetes oral medication, Metformin.

The report states that neither was Kejriwal advised to take insulin nor was there any indication of such a requirement in his medical records from RML Hospital.

During medical check-ups at Tihar jail, Kejriwal informed doctors that he had been taking insulin for several years but stopped a few months back. The medical specialist then recommended oral anti-diabetic drugs, asserting that Kejriwal was not denied insulin at any point during his treatment.

The specialist’s examination concluded that Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels were not alarming and insulin administration was unnecessary for the time being.

Regarding Kejriwal’s dietary habits, the report mentions that he has been consuming high-sugar and high-cholesterol foods regularly, including sweets, fruits, fried foods, and sweetened beverages.

AIIMS provided a diet plan for Kejriwal, strictly prohibiting most of the food items he had been consuming. According to the plan, Kejriwal is limited to consuming only 20 ml of oil per day.

Additionally, the report states that Tihar jail has adequate insulin availability in its dispensary and can administer it to Kejriwal as needed.

The Tihar administration emphasized that, as per government regulations, no referrals can be made to private hospitals, despite Kejriwal’s request for a video conference with his doctor.

The report provides insights into Kejriwal’s health status and dietary adjustments made during his incarceration, ensuring necessary medical care and dietary control as per his health requirements.
