Pushpa 2 Movie Review, Box Office Collection: Allu Arjun Film Clocks Highest Opening Ever with Rs 282 Cr on Day 1

Pushpa 2 The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, released on December 5, amid sky-high expectations. The sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise promises to take fans on an exhilarating journey into the life of Pushpa Raj, a coolie who rises to dominate the red sandalwood smuggling trade. Allu Arjun, who won the National Award for his portrayal of Pushpa Raj, returns to the screen with unmatched intensity. Rashmika Mandanna reprises her role as Srivalli, Pushpa’s devoted wife.
The makers have orchestrated an exceptional promotional campaign, ensuring the film’s hype reaches every corner of the country and beyond. From unveiling the trailer in Patna to organising grand events in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Chennai, every move has been strategically planned. The promotional blitz has not only highlighted Allu Arjun’s star power but also showcased Rashmika’s efforts to connect with audiences, including addressing fans in Hindi at the Mumbai event.
As was expected, Pushpa 2 blasted off with a record-breaking opening day at the Indian box office, obliterating the seven-year-old long-standing record of Baahubali: The Conclusion. The Allu Arjun starrer grossed Rs. 190 crore approx on its first day, beating the previous record by a hefty margin of nearly Rs. 60 crore.
Anticipation for the film is reflected in staggering box office predictions. According to Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 has minted Rs 73 crore by selling 2,51,9266 tickets in advance booking in India, surpassing the advance booking of blockbusters like Baahubali 2, Jawan and RRR. In North America, pre-sales have exceeded $2.5 million, signalling a massive international response. Industry insiders predict a record-breaking opening weekend, with numbers expected to cross Rs 150 crore in India alone. Gautam Dutta, CEO of PVR INOX, anticipates lifetime earnings of Rs 800-1,000 crore.
The film also brings back an ensemble cast that played key roles in the first installment, including Fahadh Faasil, Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bhardwaj, Sunil, and others.
